OCCUPY MOVEMENT SHOULD BRANCH OUT

Regarding the numerous "occupy" movements around the state: Wouldn't it be wonderful if the protesters would grab their tents and belongings and "occupy" places such as the villages of Schoharie and Middleburgh?

The citizens of these communities -- and many others in the state -- suffered devastating losses as a result of Tropical Storm Irene. In spite of the outpouring of help from thousands of people, a tremendous amount of work still needs to be done.

Perhaps instead of complaining about how all their problems are somebody else's fault, the occupiers could set up tents in the flood-damaged areas and help to relieve the suffering of the residents in this season of giving.

That would be a loud statement against "American greed."
