NISKAYUNA -- The summer months for Kayla Treanor included competing in the Under Armour All-American camp, the Empire State Games and earning selection to the Under-19 United States National Lacrosse team.
Oh yeah, and there was also plenty of recruiting to deal with for Treanor, Niskayuna's junior All-America midfielder.
Treanor, who earned first-team All-Area status from the Times Union as a sophomore when she had 51 goals and 23 assists for the Section II Class B champions, has provided Syracuse coach Gary Gait her oral commitment to compete for the Orange beginning in the 2012-13 season.
"Coach Gait has worked so hard to build the Syracuse program. I can't wait to learn from him, and help him win a national championship," said Treanor, who selected Syracuse over North Carolina. She also considered Stanford, Florida, Notre Dame and Johns Hopkins.
Treanor worked with former Syracuse star Katie Rowan, a Bethlehem graduate, over the summer. Two former Section II stars are on the Syracuse roster -- senior scoring star Tee Ladouceur (Bethehem) and sophomore midfielder Bridget Daley.
Gait, a member of the Lacrosse Hall of Fame, has been recruiting Treanor since she was a freshman.
"He was the first and he knew all along he wanted Kayla," said Mark Treanor, Kayla's father.
Treanor plans to major in education and minor in coaching at Syracuse.
